Reinventing Central Europe?

Top level English version ABOUT OURSELVES

Why should we reinvent Central Europe? Hasn't it existed for a long time? If it doesn't exist, should it be reinvented at all? Can it be reinvented?

Some argue that instead of reinventing it, Central Europe should be forgotten. The countries of the region should find their place in Europe and generally in the world rather than in a nonexistent Central Europe.
Maybe they are right. But it does not follow that we cannot help each other by learning from each other's successes and failures, even if we compete with each other in some ways.
This is an independent website aimed at stimulating this common learning process

a) by trying to inform our readers about new ideas, interesting initiatives and solutions in the region (and elsewhere) which may help the citizens of these countries to 'reinvent' themselves, their life strategies, human relations, communities, towns, cities, and countries;
b) by providing a medium for an exchange of ideas and information between those interested (citizens, mayors, villages, towns, entrepreneurs, institutions, NGOs, opinion leaders, journalists, schools, universities, churches, etc.);
c) by initiating debates about topics that help the advance of these countries.
This website does not want to, and cannot, substitute for already existing relations, networks, websites, publications and other forms of cooperation. Our aim is simply to contribute to the future success story of the Central European region, in our own way, and with our limited resources.
By the 'Central European region' we mean all the countries from Austria to Rumania and Moldavia; from Bulgaria and Macedonia to Poland; from Albania, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia-Montenegro and Hungary to Slovakia, from the Czech Republic and Ukraine. But we would be happy to publish news and commentaries concerning also other parts of Europe, the Baltic, for instance.
We prefer to receive articles written in English. But we shall publish an extensive English abstract of all the important articles sent to us, together with the whole text in its original language. (Authors should send their articles, remarks, proposals to office@talaljuk-ki.hu ) .
The website is open for everyone who is interested in the past, the present, and the future of the countries in the region. We are happy to publish any articles and comments that
a) contain new ideas, observations, points of view, initiatives, examples, proposals that may help the development of citizens and countries in the region;

b) are responsible and keep public interest in mind, independently of political parties and political movements;
c) do not hurt the sensitivity of any nation;
d) do not hurt the personal rights of any individual.
The website is sponsored by private foundations and has no political affiliations.

We look forward to a fruitful cooperation with our fellow citizens in this region and the world at large.
